Analysis Of Strategic Options For Gerencia General De Activos Tecnologicos (GGAT), Argentina

The Consultant was a member of a four-person Canadian team which was engaged by the national Argentina oil company, Yacimientos Petroliferis Fiscales (YPF), to evaluate options for the future structure of its research division. The options to be investigated included closing down the organization, privatizing it, or recommending a new more effective structure. Interviews with a cross-section of GGAT and YPF management and staff were conducted in Buenos Aires and at a number of regional offices and refineries. The Consultant's role in the assignment focused on organizational performance measures and the effectiveness of the downstream petroleum R&D activities. A recommended course of action was proposed to the President of YPF.
