Once you arrive at the Edmonton International Airport, there are
several ways to reach the city:

Airport
taxi: the ride takes about 30 minutes; the fare is
approximately $55.

Bus
747 takes you to Century Park, from where you can take LRT
(metro) to campus or downtown. Fare: $5. You would need to buy a
separate ticket for LRT.
- Sky Shuttle
goes from the airport to several Edmonton hotels. Fare: $18.
Within Edmonton, one may travel by
LRT (metro), bus, or taxi. There
are two LRT stops on campus: University is closer to the
conference venue and Campus Tower hotel, while Health
Sciences/Jubilee is closer to Student
Residencies. There are several LRT stops in downtown as well.
Typical May temperatures in Edmonton: 19℃ during day, 6℃ at
night. Snowstorms are rare at this time of year.

As you may already know, there has been a major forest fire in
northern Alberta, about 400km north from Edmonton. Edmonton has not
been directly affected by the fire; travel to Edmonton is
safe. However, some smoke from wildfires across northern Alberta has
been moving into Edmonton.

The town of Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta has been evacuated
because of the fire; many of the evacuees have been housed at Lister hall at
the University of Alberta and at local hotels.
