### Announcements

• Office hours for Monday 06/09.

• Choongbum: 2pm – 3:30pm.

• Xinwei: 10am – 11:30am, 4pm – 5:30pm.

• Homework 9: Those handed in before 11am Friday will be graded during the weekend and available Monday during my office hours in MS7380.
• Previous homeworks: Available in TAs' offices during their office hours.

• The Final Exam will be two hours (11:30 – 1:30) with six problems.
• Among the six problems, one will be about 1.1–1.5, one about 1.6, two about Chapter 3, one about Chapter 4 (that is 4.1 and 4.2), and the last one will be about Chapter 5 (that is 5.1, 5.2, 5.3).
• Tips:

• Look at homework problems/textbook examples in a random order and see if you can figure out how to do the problem without knowing which section it belongs to. If you meet difficulty, read the corresponding section carefully and do a few more exercises.

• The exams (midterm and final) are open book/notes (that is, any reference can be used in the exams). But no electronic devices are allowed (that is, all computation must be done by hand).
• The overall grade will be the higher of the following two schemes:

1. Homework: 20%; Midterm 1: 20%; Midterm 2: 20%; Final: 40%.
2. Homework: 20%; Final: 80%.

• No makeup exams.
• The lowest homework score will be dropped.

### Homework Policy

• Homeworks will be posted at the start of every week and collected the next Friday. Homeworks will be returned in discussion sessions.
• No late homework unless permitted by the instructor.

### Self-test/homework/exam

• For each lecture, some “self-test” problems will be posted in the Course Material page. These problems represent “basic requirements” of the course. Please do them before the next lecture and check your answers with those given in the textbook.

• If you find any of these problems not easy, please read your notes or the textbook immediately;
• If you find any of the following problems hard, please discuss with others or come to office hours as soon as possible.
• Homework problems represent what you need to know/be able to do beyond “basic requirements”.
• In each exam, the ratio of points between basic/non-basic requirements is 70%:30%.
