ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Homework assignment 1 is due at 5pm on Oct. 10th (Monday) in the ME 152A homework box (EII Hallway)

  2. The text "Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics" by B.R. Munson, D.F. Young, T.H. Okiishi, and W.W. Huebsch (6th edition, Wiley) is available at the bookstore and can also be purchased from Wiley directly at www.wileybookstore.com/ucsb. Two copies are on reserve in the library (2 hr loan).

  3. ABET learning outcomes:

    (a) Familiarity with basic concepts of fluid mechanics (fluid properties, the Bernoulli equation, fluid kinematics);

    (b) Ability to understand and calculate forces on submerged objects (fluid statics);

    (c) Ability to understand and quantify a fluid mechanics problem using control volume analysis;

    (d) Familiarity with differential analysis of fluid flow.
