Math 3C - Spring, 2002 Syllabus We will roughly follow the schedule below: First week: Reader -- Functions of two variables. Second week: 1.1 -- Dynamical systems; 1.2 -- Solutions and direction fields. Third week: 1.3 -- Separation of variables; 1.4 -- Euler's method. Fourth week: 1.4 (continued). First midterm. Fifth week: 2.1 -- Linear differential equations; 2.2 -- Solving first-order linear differential equations. Sixth week: 2.2 (continued); 2.3 -- Growth and decay phenomena. Seventh week: 2.4 -- Linear models: mixing and cooling. Eighth week: 2.5 -- Nonlinear models, logistic equation. Second midterm. Ninth week: Reader -- Series. Tenth week: Reader -- Series; review.
