Food

Lunch

There are plenty of fast food restaurants on campus. On the main (ground) floor of CAB, there is a Panda Express outlet (Chinese style fast food) and a Tim Hortons outlet (coffee, doughnuts, and fast food). There is plenty of seating on the main and the lower (-1) floors of CAB. There are food courts in HUB and SUB buildings, with a variety of fast food outlets including Greek, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Ukrainian, Indian, Italian, and even Canadian cuisine. HUB is a long building; you may enter it through almost any door and go up to the second floor where the food court is.

Dinner

There are few dinner options on campus. There is Earls restaurant on the corner of 87 ave and 112 st and Upper Crust Cafe at the corner of 109 st and 86 ave. If you are willing to walk for about 20 minutes, there are many good restaurants on Whyte Avenue (same as 82 Avenue) between 100 st and 109 st. There are also many restaurants in the city centre, which can be easily reached from campus by metro.

WiFi

Guest@UofA network is a free open network available on the University of Alberta campus. You may also be able to use eduroam.

Projectors and whiteboards

Conference lecture rooms will be equipped with projectors. If you would like to use a projector, please bring us your talk as a PDF file on a USB stick or send it to us via email. Lecture rooms are also equipped with large whiteboards. We encourage participants to use whiteboards.

Conference Dinner

If you have registered for the Conference Dinner, we invite you to come to Faculty Club by 6pm on Thursday. Faculty Club is a ten minute walk from CAB. We have recently learned from Faculty Club that you may still register for the dinner till Tuesday morning.

Excursion

After lunch on Wednesday afternoon, there will be an excursion to Fort Edmonton Park. The park is an open air museum of Edmonton history. We will have a guided tour through the park, followed by some free time. There will be a $20 fee for attending the excursion, which partially covers its cost. We strongly recommend taking part in the excursion. The bus will leave at 1pm from the University Transit Centre (located in front of University LRT station on 89 ave). The park closes at 5pm. To return to campus or downtown, there will be a regular city bus number 595 leaving from the park entrance at 5:13pm and going to South Campus LRT station.

We ask that you pay the $30 dinner fee (if you attend the dinner) and the $20 excursion fee (if you attend the excursion) by the end of Tuesday.

Picnic

After the end of the conference on Friday, the participants (as well as their spouses and children) are invited to a conference picnic/party at Vladimir Troitsky's backyard (weather permitting). Instructions on how to get there will be provided.
