Thomas Hillen is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.  His expertise includes mathematical models for
cell movement, modelling and optimization of cancer growth and
treatment, and the modelling of forest fires.

Dr Hillen has ongoing collaborations with the Cross Cancer Institute and the Alberta Government. He has been key in the development of our annual Mathematical Biology Summer Workshop for undergraduates. Since 2002, he has shown leadership in the organization of the summer workshops and in the development of the course textbook arising from the workshops.
