Gerda de Vries is a Professor in the Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences.  She has research expertise in the area of mathematical physiology and cell biology, and actively collaborates on interdisciplinary research projects with colleagues at the Cross Cancer Institute, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Physiology, and the Faculty of Education. 

Dr. de Vries has played a leading role in the development of the Mathematical Biology Summer Workshop and pedagogical course material.  Her commitment to excellence in teaching has been recognized by several teaching awards.  She has administrative experience in various roles on the Boards of the Society for Mathematical Biology, the SIAM Life Sciences Activity Group, and the Canadian Mathematical Society.
