Math Dept. Account:

To change your Math Dept. password:

Open up a terminal (or open putty or SSH Secure Shell in Windows) and use SSH to connect to Sirius1. For example, under unix type:

ssh sirius1.math.ualberta.ca

For MAC OSX, open terminal window, type:

ssh-X sirius1.math.ualberta.ca

After logging in, use the yppasswd command to change your account passwd. So type the bold text below:

yppasswd
Changing NIS password for user on crazy.math.ualberta.ca.
Old Password:
New password:
Retype new password:

NIS password has been changed on crazy.math.ualberta.ca.

Your Math Dept. password is now changed.

To change your Windows 2000XP password:

Logon to the CHAOS domain from a Windows 2000 workstation. Once you are logged in, press and hold the CTRL and ALT keys, then press the DELETE the key and then release all keys. Now click on the "Change Password..." button and enter your new password. Click OK, and you're done.

If that does not work, you can change your Windows 2000 password by running the smbpasswd command on crazy. To do this, type:

ssh crazy.math.ualberta.ca

After logging in, type the following:

/usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd

Enter your current Windows 2000 password when asked "Old SMB password:", and then enter your new passwd when prompted.

To change your Mathbio account password:

Open up a terminal (or open putty or tera term in Windows) and use SSH to connect to Moresby. For example, under unix type:

ssh moresby.math.ualberta.ca

After logging in, use the command "passwd -r nis" to change your account passwd. So type the bold text below:

passwd -r nis
passwd: Changing password for user
Enter login(NIS) password:
New password:
Re-enter new password:
NIS passwd/attributes changed on moresby

Your Mathbio account password is now changed.
