Background Material Guideline

material required for beginning graduate students. Each section
consists of a list of topics, together with a collection of
examples illustrating important concepts.
is the responsibility of each beginning student to ensure that
they are familiar with the material in this guideline, to the
extent that the material is relevant for their courses. Students
should attempt the problems, and be willing to revisit background
material when they find the problems challenging.
