Extending the Formula to Calculate Average Energy

It seems like we have been advancing our study quite quickly, so here is a good place to take a step back and ask "what are we actually trying to do?" We are trying to find if flying to a specific height to break open whelks could minimize how much energy a crow expends when feeding. The rest of the study will focus on forming a model for average energy as a function of height.

Exercise 6: Based on equation 5 and the data from Table 1, calculate the average energy expended at each of the heights from Zach's experiment.

Exercise 7: Answer the following questions:

a) At what height is the energy expended minimized, on average?

b) Is your answer consistent with your earlier answer?

c) How confident are you with your answer?
