DATA SETS

Climatic Research Datasets

This website was set up in 2003 for climate researchers to conveniently access the climate data, both observed (raw data and interpolated) and simulated data. The data are stored in the server of the Statistical Climatology Group (SCG), University of Alberta. Although the datasets are for the internal use, other researchers might find it convenient to assess the datasets from our website. For the users’ convenience each dataset has a description of the physical parameter, source of the data, spatial and temporal resolution and coverage, data format, a Fortran program to read the data in the case of binary format, size of the dataset, and the scientific publications on the generations of the dataset.

Some datasets are for public distribution, such as those downloaded from the NCDC and CPC websites, and some are for internal use only like the daily station data over Alberta. The people in the SCG can access both kinds of data; however a non-SCG person has to obtain the permission the SCG to access the internal data.

The datasets for public distribution may not be the most updated version. A use should go to the original source of the data for the most updated version. SCG is not responsible for the errors of the data generated by other sources.
