Post Doctoral Research Position(s) in Stochastic Processes and Differential Equations

 

Location:  University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.

 

Are you interested in working in an exciting area of mathematics with

great exposure to top scientists in both academics and industry? 

We are looking for a research associate to work on developing and

implementing mathematical models and methods for classifying and

tracking multiple interacting targets in such diverse areas as

narcotic smuggling prevention, civilian air traffic management,

surveillance, and search and rescue.  The successful candidate would be

part of large team of scientists co-operating together to solve difficult

mathematical and statistical problems of direct interest in the aforementioned

industries.

 

Prior Experience in any of: stochastic modeling, stochastic calculus,

partial differential equations, probability, data fusion, scientific

computations, simulation, or filtering theory would be beneficial. 

 

Edmonton is a clean, safe city within 2.5 hours of the Canadian Rockies and

Applications will be evaluated periodically until a suitable candidate

is found.  The position(s) will start sometime between January and August

of 2002 and are subject to final budgetary approval.  In most cases, the

appointment will be for two years provided adequate performance and

financing is maintained.
