A MODEL FOR BATCH TESTS

Abstract. This work develops and analyzes a new model for batch tests with multiple contaminants. The physical mechanisms involved are competitive sorption and chemical transformation. The model is of the form of a system of 2m ordinary differential equations with initial conditions. Various qualitative properties are obtained such as positivity, boundedness, and continuability. It is also shown that noncompetitive sorption models cannot explain recent experimental results.
