ELECTROMAGNETIC WELLBORE HEATING

Abstract. A model is proposed for the flow of fluids in a horizontal well that is electrically heated from an external source. By analysing the physical processes involved, a second order nonlinear ODE is derived for the volume flux of the well as a function of distance along the wellbore. Comparing the extracted average radial temperature and pressure profiles with a commercial CFD solver illustrates that this simplified model captures much of the structure involved in the solution to the full PDE solution.
