EDITORIAL
The Canadian Applied Mathematics Quarterly (CAMQ) has been
established to disseminate scientific knowledge relating to the mathematical
sciences and to nurture the inherent cross-influences that this
breadth engenders. We feel most strongly that Applied Mathematics
is a legitimate, self-supporting discipline of scientific activity, side by
side with pure mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering.
Despite the word "Canadian" in the title of CAMQ, our aim is
to establish a truly international journal of exacting standards. To
this end our international Board of Associate Editors have been instructed
to employ at least two referees in arriving at their editorial
decisions. CAMQ, in keeping with its mandate, will consider for publication
original research articles relating principally, but not exclusively,
to the mathematics of the physical, medical, biological, and
engineering sciences. All articles submitted should attempt to establish
a strong connection between the mathematics and its applications.
Papers which develop new mathematical models based upon scientific
principles and/or the analysis of data are particularly encouraged.
